About Me
My name is Colin Hawley, and I’m currently a student at Old Colony High School. I’ve always been interested in game design and video games, which led me to join the Computer Science program. Ever since I started learning about programming, I’ve enjoyed making games and websites. One of the things I like most about Computer Science is the ability to use my creativity in my work life. So far in high school, I’ve had the chance to realize myself and work towards what I want to do in the future.
During my time in Computer Science class, I’ve learned to work with programming languages and tools. Some of my favorite projects include breakout, where I created a simple game from scratch and learned how to use unity. Through these assignments, I’ve developed skills in programming, design, and problem solving. Working on projects like the divi builder restaurant taught me how to make websites quick and easy. I’ve also learned the importance of creativity and persistence while coding.
After high school, I plan to attend college to study game design and maybe IT. I’m interested in pursuing a degree in computer science because it could help me learn more about game development and programming. The college I’m most interested in is Bridgewater State University, since it offers an amazing course in computer science. I hope to continue improving my skills in game design and web development. My long-term goal is to work a nice comfortable job in game development or IT and make a game independently in my free time.
In the future, I’d like to work as a game designer. I’m drawn to that career because I always had a passion for games and programming and I want to get out and work in the space that I'm passionate about. I want to create games and websites that are filled with fun and creativity. My dream job would let me work as an independent game developer and work in an indie studio. I believe the skills I’m learning now will help me succeed and be successful in my career.
Outside of computer science, I also enjoy playing video games, hanging out with friends, watching horror movies, and helping people out. In my free time, you can usually find me relaxing in my room, hanging out with friends and family, or working on personal projects and games. I think my hobbies, like helping people out and working on personal projects, help me be creative and solve problems. When I’m not coding, I like to play games and draw. Something unique about me is that I find creative ways to solve problems.
